Alexandrite

An excellent specimen of Alexandrite from the Masvingo (Fort Victoria) area, Zimbabwe. The specimen of Chrysoberyl displays as an excellent plate of intergrown Alexandrite crystals measuring to 3.0 cm! The Alexandrite crystals are seen in two habits. The first having a triangular aspect to them. The second and more characteristic crystal form displays well developed cyclically twinned crystals. The natural light colour is a rich green, displaying reddish areas in artificial light. The Alexandrite crystals are lustrous the light reflecting from the multi oriented faces. A classic specimen of the Chrysoberyl variety Alexandrite. Zimbabwe alexandrite combines exceptional color change along with well formed crystals.
