Attractive blue sapphire crystal, the colored gem variety of the mineral species corundum.Attractive blue sapphire crystal, the colored gem variety of the mineral species corundum, with hexagonal di-pyramidal form composed of stepped crystal faces. The sapphire has bands of deeper blue color alternating with pale zones. This was specimen recovered from an alluvial deposit and the edges show wear, but the crystal form is distinct.
